Brimrose Corporation of America is a designer, manufacturer, and custom builder of high quality, ruggedized acousto-optic components (AO), AOTF near infrared spectrometers (NIR), AOTF hyperspectral imagers (HSI), and more. The company was founded in 1980 by Dr. Ronald Rosemeier with several "Small Business Innovative Research" Grants (SBIRs) and as a defense contractor. Research and development continues to be the backbone of our organization. We have created a culture of freedom to explore and develop new ideas.
The Brimrose headquarters is located north of Baltimore, Maryland, USA in a technology sector known as Hunt Valley. Engineers work to design and have access to our machining for prototypes and custom building. We manufacture all of our products here in the United States, including advanced materials such as crystal growth. Many of our employees have advanced degrees and have been pioneers in their fields of study. We have partners and direct applications solutions support throughout the world.
Brimrose makes things that nobody else does. We’re going to the moon with our AOTF Spectrometers! Our AOTF device is going to Mars!

Several innovative technologies have been developed and perfected by Brimrose as the result of our long history of R&D, including our Acousto-Optic Tunable Filter technology (AOTF). AOTF is a critical technology that offers several advantages for our technologies in each of our major commercial divisions.
The “AO Component Division” custom-builds Acousto-Optic components and fiber-coupled AO devices for imaging and other applications to meet the unique specifications of our customers at research laboratories and universities.
The “NIR Spectrometer Division” helps integrate AOTF-NIR spectrometers with industrial manufacturers in pharmaceuticals, food manufacturing, chemical, polymer, and petro-chemical industries to improve product quality control and consistency.
The “Hyperspectral Imager Division” has applications in all of the industries that we serve. Hyperspectral imagers can be used in the military, medical, and any industry or application where spectrometers are used.
The “R&D Group” investigates potential activities and looks for innovative approaches to develop new products or to improve and expand our existing production operations. The R&D group is the backbone of our company’s technology and has generated multi-million dollar contract awards. Most R&D work is centered in Brimrose Technology Corporation. Central to our R&D, applied technology, and commercialization efforts is our Concept to Utilization Committee.
