Determination of Pulp Bale Properties
The Brimrose Free Space spectrometer is an excellent tool to measure the Fluff Absorbance Quality (FAQ) parameter that is a measurement of how much the Fluff can absorb. The use of a probe will make it necessary to drill a hole in the bales. It allows for more scans. Another advantage is that the spectra will be collected over a larger area of the bale, while the probe will only allow spectra to be collected from a small portion of the bale. Determination of Coating Thickness on Paper
A Brimrose AOTF-NIR Luminar Free Space spectrometer was used to scan spectral data on 4 different types of paper that had different amounts of coating layers. The regression models showed that the Brimrose AOTF-NIR Luminar spectrometer is able to quantify coating layers on different types of paper using spectral data. Online tobacco measurement using Brimrose Luminar 4030
Measuring Parameters in Tobacco
A Brimrose Luminar 4030 free space AOTF-NIR spectrometer was used to scan spectra on samples of tobacco. The samples had reference values for nicotine (nic), total sugars (ts), residual sugars (rs), total nitrogen (tkn), potassium (k), and chloride (cl). The results of a partial least squares regression displayed a strong correlation between spectral data and the levels of each constituent in tobacco. Determination of Moisture in Ceramic Slurries
A Brimrose AOTF-NIR Luminar spectrometer was used to scan spectral data on samples of clay containing varying amounts of water. A follow-up study was done on ceramic hardware samples and the results were duplicated, proving that the Brimrose AOTF-NIR Luminar spectrometer can measure moisture content in actual ceramic pieces exiting a production line.
