Transcal: Transferring a Calibration From a Foss NIR Laboratory Spectrometer to a Brimrose AOTF-NIR Process Spectrometer With Improved Results and Performance

The Brimrose software program Transcal was used to transfer a calibration from data collected using a Foss laboratory spectrometer to a Brimrose AOTF-NIR process spectrometer that used to measure protein, oil, and moisture in a pellet-sized product.

The results clearly showed that the Brimrose process spectrometer gave improved results over the Foss laboratory spectrometer. The AOTF technology gives the Brimrose process spectrometer a strong advantage over other NIR spectrometers because of its fast scanning speed and absence of moving parts. This makes it the ideal choice over other NIR spectrometers for real-time on-line process control.

After using Brimrose’s Transcal calibration program, an independent test revealed that on-line prediction performance matched the laboratory prediction performance with excellent correlation.
