AOTF-NIR Determination of Nicotine levels in Ground Tobacco

A Brimrose AOTF-NIR Luminar 3030 Free Space spectrometer was used to collect spectral data on samples of ground tobacco with low, middle, and high nicotine levels. A regression model was created for the entire range of samples and while the SEP was low for the whole range, it was too high to provide accurate predictions for the low level samples. Subsequently, separate models were created for the low, middle, and high nicotine level samples and the results proved that the Brimrose Free Space spectrometer can accurately quantify nicotine in ground tobacco.
