The Determination of Low Level Percent Moisture in Methyl Alcohol Using AOTF-NIR Spectroscopy
A Brimrose AOTF-NIR spectrometer was used to scan spectral data on prepared samples of methanol with small amounts of water added. The reference data on water in the methanol and the corresponding spectral data were used to create a regression model that clearly showed that the Brimrose AOTF-NIR spectrometer is able to quantify small amounts of water in methanol using spectral data and a calibration model. Past experience has shown that a calibration model generated from laboratory data can easily be transferred to a real-time, on-line industrial setting.
