AOTF-NIR Determination of
Various Properties of
Polypropylene
Abstract:
A Brimrose AOTF-NIR Free
Space spectrometer was used
to scan spectral data of
polypropylene pellets.
Reference values were
provided for properties such
as C2 parameter, modules of
elasticity, isoelasticity,
melt flow index, Izod impact
strength. The results showed
that the Brimrose Free Space
spectrometer can give
accurate values for all of
these parameters but
universal models can be used
for the properties that are
only dependent on chemical
and molecular structure and
smaller local models must be
used for the properties that
depend on structure and
other factors such as
additives.
