AOTF-NIR Determination of %
PMC, PVA, and Casucol in Various
Blends
Abstract:
A Brimrose AOTF-NIR
spectrometer with a full
bundle transflectance probe
was used to scan spectral
data of a white powder in
vials consisting of varying
known percentages of PMC
(cellulose ether), PVA (polyvinylalcohol),
and Casucol (cellulose
ether). Regression models
were created for each of the
constituents and predictions
were done on some samples
with unknown values. The
results were excellent,
especially when considering
the small size of the sample
set, and showed good
correlation between the
values given by the spectral
data and the reference
values.
