AOTF-NIR Determination of
Percent Solids and Drying in
Lost Foam Coatings
Abstract:
A Brimrose Free Space
spectrometer was used to
collect spectral data of
slurry samples used for
coating foamed polystyrene.
The spectra showed clear and
distinct peaks and
regression models were
created for both percent
solids and drying. The
results showed good
correlation, especially for
the small range of reference
values, and the ruggedness
and lack of moving parts in
the Brimrose Free Space
spectrometer make it the
ideal tool for an on-line
industrial application of
measuring these parameters
in slurry.
