Measuring Intrinsic Viscosity
(IV) and Carboxyl Group (COOH)
Concentration in PET Pellets
Using AOTF-NIR Spectroscopy
Abstract:
A Brimrose Luminar Free
Space spectrometer was used
to scan two sets of PET
pellet samples with varying
values for IV and COOH. The
pellets were moved under the
light beam during scanning
to simulate moving pellets
on an industrial production
line. PLS 1 regression
models were created for IV
and COOH in the two sets of
groups and the results
proved the feasibility of
measuring IV and COOH from
NIR spectral data.
