AOTF-NIR Determination of
Moisture in Coffee Beans
Abstract:
A Brimrose Luminar Free
Space spectrometer was
installed over a chute that
is used to unload coffee
beans from large packing
containers into the
receiving bins. Spectral
data for the coffee beans
was scanned and the results
for the calibration model
showed that the Brimrose
Free Space spectrometer can
accurately predict moisture
in coffee beans using
spectral data and a
calibration model. This
method eliminates the need
to measure small samples
from the containers for
moisture and can provide
real-time on-line
measurements of moisture in
the coffee beans.
