The Measurement of Energy Values and
% Solids in Black Liquor Using AOTF-NIR
Spectroscopy
Abstract:
A Brimrose AOTF-NIR Free Space
spectrometer was used to scan
spectral data on samples of black
liquor with reference values for
high heat, low heat, and % solids.
Regression models were created to
correlate the spectral data to these
properties. The models showed good
correlation between the reference
values and values obtained using the
spectral data and it was also shown
that the Brimrose spectrometer was
able to discriminate between black
liquor samples from different mills.
