Oleic and Linoleic Acid in
Sunflower Seeds Using AOTF-NRI
Spectroscopy

Luminar 3076
Seed Meister was
used to scan
spectral data on
oleic and
linoleic seeds.
The first group
of seeds had
reference values
for oleic and
linoleic acid
and these seeds
were used to
create
calibration
models. The
validation seeds
of seeds were
scanned and were
sent for GC
analysis to
compare the GC
values to the
NIR values. The
results were
excellent and
showed that the
Seed Meister can
be used for
quantitative
measurement of
percent oleic
and linoleic
acid in
sunflower seeds.
