The Measurement of Chemical Composition of
Pharmaceutical Raw Materials Using AOTF-NIR
Spectroscopy
Abstract:
A Brimrose AOTF-NIR Luminar 2000 spectrometer
and diffuse reflectance probe was used to
collect spectral data on 30 samples of a raw
material antibiotic powder with known reference
values for purity and moisture. Chemometric
analysis showed an excellent model for purity in
the powder, but the model for moisture was
unable to correlate spectral data because of a
small range and number of samples and because of
poor reference values. Past experience has shown
that the Brimrose spectrometer is able to
correlate moisture to spectral data with
accurate reference values.
