On-Line Measurement of Moisture in a GlattTM
Fluidized Bed Using AOTF-NIR
Spectroscopy
Abstract:
A Brimrose AOTF-NIR Luminar 3075 miniature
battery-operated spectrometer designed for use
on rotating blenders was modified to operate on
a GlattTM fluidized bed dryer.
Spectra were collected on samples and reference
values for moisture were found using the loss on
drying (LOD) method. The results clearly showed
that the Brimrose spectrometer can be used to
quantify moisture in a GlattTM fluid
bed dryer and the modeling can be greatly
improved by using a larger sample set and by
using the more accurate Karl-Fischer method to
obtain reference values.
