Brimrose AOTF-NIR Spectrometers are being used in a wide variety of chemical applications where process control is a necessity. Excellent results can be obtained when working with such parameters as resin/hardener ratio, percent moisture in various chemical compounds, concentrations of additives, completion of reactions, etc. Calibration transfers are possible. The calibration can be developed in the laboratory and transferred to the industrial process analyzer. A 16 channel multiplexer provides a very cost-effective solution for multiple stream applications. Provided Brimrose's customized engineering and application support are used, a "turnkey' solution can be achieved.
Brimrose AOTF-NIR Free Space spectrometer is ideal for applications that require monitoring percent moisture in a powder blend. The Brimrose spectrometer being insensitive to ambient light and vibrations makes it the ideal choice for any industrial process application.
Brimrose Free Space collects spectra on powder falling from conveyor belt. Data is processed and percent moisture determined.
Resin/Hardener Ratio
Depending upon the particular application, both the Brimrose Free Space and the Multiplexer units are ideal choices for monitoring the ratio between two compounds. The two compounds are blended together by various process methods and monitored for the precise ratio. If either compound is outside acceptable parameters, an alarm is sent to correct the blending control and the process streams are adjusted accordingly.

Monitoring concentration of components
Whether the compound or solution consists of only one or two components or many, when the concentration of any one component is out of specification, the result is a process line that must be stopped and the possibility of having to re-process.
Brimrose spectrometers can be configured and adapted to any process for real-time inline monitoring, thereby possibly avoiding the necessity to re-process. Specific applications include:
Monitoring hypocholorite in bleaching products
Concentration of menthol in various solutions
PVA in ceramic slurries
Salicylic acid in rubber samples
Spectra show changes as concentration level is adjusted in process stream
Multiplexer centrally located and numerous process points monitored
Data sent to DCS as needed for process adjustments
Ethernet communication
Modbus protocol (RS232/485/422)
4-mA outputs
